Anxiety

Anxiety can be normal in some situations at mild levels. However if excessive feelings of nervousness, anxiousness, fear, or anxiety occur it can affect job performance, schoolwork, personal relationships, sleep, and cause physical symptoms to occur.

Nearly 30 percent of adults will experience anxiety during their lifetime. There are several type of anxiety disorders: generalized, panic disorder, specific phobias, agoraphobia, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and selective mutism. Additional information about anxiety can be found here.

Symptoms of Anxiety

  • Feeling irritable, tense, or restless

  • Sweating, trembling, or shaking

  • Excessive worry about things you cannot control

  • Feeling on edge or like you may lose control

  • Having a sense of impending danger, panic, or doom

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Difficulty with thinking or concentration, forgetfulness

  • Physical symptoms such as nausea, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath
