Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is a disorder that can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event or series of events. An individual may experience this as emotionally or physically harmful or life-threatening and it may affect mental, physical, social, and/or spiritual well-being.

Some examples of trauma include natural disasters, serious accidents, terrorist acts, war/combat, physical or sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or bullying.
Symptoms of PTSD

Intrusive thoughts or flashbacks of a traumatic event

Avoiding reminders of a traumatic event

Inability to remember important aspects of a traumatic event

Being hypervigilant or easily startled

Recurring nightmares of a traumatic event
